‘Sign him up’ – Liverpool fans demand signing of PL goalkeeper on Twitter after Man City victory

The Liverpool fans were absolutely delighted in the Transfer Tavern last night after their side continued their excellent record against Manchester City at Anfield.

Manchester City have not beaten Liverpool at Anfield since 2003, and on the basis of Liverpool’s performance yesterday, it is easy to see why that’s the case. Jurgen Klopp’s side looked sharper and hungrier from the minute go, and they forced Man City to work extremely hard whilst they were in possession – a feat that the majority of clubs have failed to achieve against Guardiola’s City slickers all season.

There were plenty of standout performances in Liverpool red that were worthy of a special mention, but the performance of Lorius Karius in goal was not one of them.

In truth, and perhaps to the surprise of some, Karius didn’t have all that much to do despite the fact Liverpool conceded three goals.

However, the German goalkeeper was guilty of being beaten at his near post for City’s equaliser in the first half, despite getting his hand to the ball of Sane’s thumping strike.

Karius’ mistake has served to further strengthen the calls from Liverpool fans who are urging Klopp to sign a new goalkeeper this month.

And judging by the response on Twitter, it seems that Stoke City’s Jack Butland is the supporters choice for Liverpool’s next goalkeeping acquisition.

Here’s what the Liverpool fans had to say about the potential of signing Jack Butland this month…
