Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger continues to be under pressure and it remains to be seen whether the Frenchman will stick out his legendary career with the London club.
Here in the Tavern, the Gunners fans have been in a miserable mood of late, and once again there’s plenty of them calling for Wenger to call it a day and give someone else a chance in the summer to rebuild, shape, and improve the squad.
A top four spot looks unlikely, but given Wenger’s stubbornness in previous years, he could well stay on beyond this term, and our landlord has been trying to come up with some players who he thinks Wenger needs to make sure he signs if he does stay.
One such player who could be a solid addition to the Arsenal squad is Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Rode, who despite not being the most glamorous name or even a regular for Dortmund, could be exactly the sort of player who Wenger needs.
Solid, robust, and capable of just getting on with his job in the middle of the park, Rode is the sort of no nonsense player who can come in and be a real influence on a squad like Arsenal’s.
With so much attacking talent, Rode is someone who is happy to put himself about, sit in, and let the other flair players do their job. While he might not be the sort of name Arsenal fans will jump out of their seats for, he is the sort of player who can help knit it all together at the Emirates.
Arsenal fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
