With Everton looking to kick on with new manager Sam Allardyce at the helm, plenty of the attention and eyes at Goodison Park will turn to the January transfer window and who the club can look to bring in and lead an improved second half of the season.
The Toffees soon disposed of manager Ronald Koeman after his poor start, and the early signs under Allardyce are encouraging, with a couple of impressive wins under his belt already.
However, our landlord here at the Tavern is adamant the club need more in the tank, and he thinks January could be the ideal time for the Toffees to go out and add some real quality to the squad as they seek to improve and climb the Premier League table.
One man he thinks would be a superb signing is current Dortmund and former Chelsea man Andre Schurrle, who has struggled for consistent game time and goals this season.
Despite this, he remains a quality operator, and a move to a club like Everton, with new owners and splashing the cash, could be the making of the German, who played a key role as his country won the World Cup back in 2014.
Schurrle could also relish the chance to prove himself in the Premier League after Chelsea binned him off relatively early, and still in his mid-20’s, he has plenty of time to make an impression and leave a lasting mark on Merseyside, should a move materialise.
Everton fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
