Newcastle's summer transfer market bargain hunt is well underway.

After a brilliant 10th place finish, the Magpies are on the hunt to spend as little as possible. Rafa Benitez has been told that the club will have to 'wheel and deal' this summer as they look to remain in the Premier League.

The latest player to be linked with the club is Guingamp midfielder, Clement Grenier according to L'Equipe via Sport Witness. The report also states that Everton and Fulham are also interested in the midfielder who joined Guingamp last year.

The Breakdown

A talented midfielder, Grenier's career has been blighted by multiple injuries. As a result of his injuries and poor form, the midfielder struggled to play for Lyon in the early part of the season, while the season before he managed four the previous season and only six for Roma while on loan.

He did manage to return to a semblance of form when he joined Guingamp, scoring five goals and four assists in 15 games in the league.

Rafa Benitez is in dire need of attacking players, especially a striker. While Grenier is a talented number 10 who could pull it all together, his injury record is a serious worry for any potential deal.

His price tag is relatively cheap but Newcastle should avoid a deal for the midfielder. The club need to focus their efforts on bringing in a top striker first and foremost, and due to Grenier inconsistent form and injury record, this is a deal that the club should steer clear of.
