West Ham have been extremely busy during the summer transfer window.

Manuel Pellegrini has made huge changes at the London Stadium since replacing David Moyes in the dugout. Eager to avoid another relegation dogfight, the West Ham board have backed the Chilean in the transfer window. The former Manchester City boss has brought seven new players to the club this summer in a major rebuild.

With just days remaining in the transfer window, Pellegrini still wants to add to his squad. Following Cheikou Kouyate’s departure, a new defensive midfielder is needed. With Manuel Lanzini sidelined for a number of months, an attacking midfielder may also be on his shortlist.

One man he should consider is Flamengo youngster – Lucas Paqueta. Valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the 20-year-old is tipped to become the next Brazilian youngster to be a success in Europe. He has made 15 appearances this season, scoring five goals and notching one assist.

Paqueta was selected in Brazil’s preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup as a result of his impressive performances. He failed to make the cut but has been capped eight times at U20 level for his country.

An intelligent and tricky playmaker, Paqueta could flourish under Pellegrini’s tutelage and be an excellent understudy for Lanzini when he returns from injury.
