Crystal Palace added Chelsea man Michy Batshuayi to the ranks this week, with Roy Hodgson landing the striker on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The signing of the Belgian is a big move for the Eagles, and it will no doubt help them on their way to Premier League survival, however, this doesn’t mask the fact that they should have gone all out to sign now ex-Sunderland striker Josh Maja.
The youngster, who had smashed in the goals for the Black Cats this term, completed a move to Bordeaux in the window to shatter Sunderland hearts and force the club into a big money move for Will Grigg.
However, we here in the Tavern can’t quite fathom the move by Palace to not sign the impressive Maja, given their problems in front of goal and the talent young Maja possesses.
The explosive young striker is superb, and he has already shown that he has the quality in front of goal to ensure that he should go a long way if things go well in France.
Palace however needed to land Maja, if anything for their future options rather than just now.
Maja seemed ready made for a club like Palace, and would have slotted in superbly with the likes of Wilf Zaha and Andros Townsend providing the ammunition down the wings.
Time will ultimately tell with the case of Maja, but it would be have been nice to see Palace go all out for the youngster and give him his chance in the Premier League.
Palace fans, what do you think? Would Maja have been a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
