Everton will be looking to put things right later on today having struggled to ensure consistency in recent times, with their European hopes slipping away.
The Toffees spent big back in the summer transfer window and they could look to do so once again in January, with a number of improvements still required at this stage in their season.
However, Everton face another tricky test in their next Premier League fixture as they’ll welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Goodison Park. Spurs currently sit in third position and have been in sublime form recently, so Marco Silva’s side will need to be a their best if they are to stand any chance of securing a result.
So, Silva will embarrass Tottenham if this PAIR put on a masterclass today…
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been made to feed off scraps in the current campaign, but he did manage to make the most of a start in the Premier League against Manchester City, scoring Everton’s only goal.
Spurs are a very physical team and enjoy plenty of success at the heart of the defence, so the Toffees should look at deploying Calvert-Lewin at the pinnacle of the attack to hold up the ball and link play.
Bernard has proved to be one of the finds of the summer transfer window as he has already excelled in the Premier League, with a respectable two assists to his name.
So, Silva will try to get the Brazilian in behind Kieran Trippier, who often finds himself out of position after an attack. Indeed, playing on the counter-attack will be made possible with Bernard in the side, as his pace, skill and dribbling ability could prove deadly.
