Liverpool will be desperate to build on their previous impressive performances as they’re in a great position to challenge for the title.
The Reds certainly made the most of the summer transfer window as they managed to strengthen in all the right areas by bringing in a number of quality players. Although, Jurgen Klopp wasn’t too pleased with one of his players recently, as according to the Mirror, Klopp has criticised Simon Mignolet after he expressed his unhappiness.
Jurgen Klopp has criticised Simon Mignolet after the goalkeeper expressed unhappiness with his current situation.
The Belgian had seemed certain to leave the Reds this summer following the signing of Alisson Becker, only for Loris Karius to be allowed to join Besiktas on loan.
And, it’s safe to say that the Liverpool boss wasn’t particularly pleased with an interview that the goalkeeper gave recently as he stated this:
“Of course he is not happy to be number two but at the end there are worse things in the world than being number two – pretty good pay by the way at Liverpool.
“He is a top professional, a top goalkeeper and in the first moment you understand decisions or not but it is always better to talk to me directly about it than newspapers.”
The Belgian hasn’t been able to enjoy regular minutes at Liverpool since Loris Karius joined, and things were made even worse when Alisson Becker made the move to Anfield.
Indeed, Simon Mignolet was error-prone whenever Jurgen Klopp used to call on him in-between the sticks, so it comes as no surprise that he’s having to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench.
Klopp was understandably angered at the goalkeeper’s choice to speak to the media, which hasn’t done him any good in the race for a starting place.
