Liverpool continued their fine start to the campaign as they beat Brighton 1-0 at Anfield thanks to a brilliant strike from Mohamed Salah yesterday.
The Reds are one of the favourites to secure the Premier League title having enjoyed an incredible start to proceedings with an even stronger squad than last season. Although, they could be in deep trouble, as according to Het Laatste Nieuws (via Liverpool Echo), Simon Mignolet has hinted that he still intends to leave.
Simon Mignolet has strongly hinted he still wants to leave Liverpool.
The Belgian began the season as third choice at Anfield but has been elevated to understudy to Alisson Becker following the departure of Karius on a two-year deal to Besiktas.
“The transfer of Karius doesn’t change anything for me,”
“I have always been clear: I want to play.
“Being number two or number three makes little difference. Playing minutes is the most important thing.
“Nobody has said anything to me after the departure of Loris. So I don’t know what my future at Liverpool is. We will see what happens this week.”
The Reds could find themselves a little light in the goalkeeping department after letting Loris Karius go recently as Simon Mignolet has hinted at a possible exit.
If Alisson suffers an injury then it could be curtains for Liverpool as they’ll have to make use of a goalkeeper with little experience from their youth system.
And, with the race for the Premier League title inevitably hotting up as the season progresses, they could find themselves slipping down the table due to a lack of goalkeeping cover.
