Liverpool fans have still not come down from the ceiling in the Football Transfer Tavern after the Reds’ impressive 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The result ensured the Reds returned to second place in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Chelsea with a game in hand.
Meanwhile Tottenham’s defeat to Arsenal later in the day meant there is now a nine point gap between Liverpool and Spurs in fifth place, whilst Brendan Rodgers team also has a game in hand.
You would think that with nine games remaining, it would take a catastrophic finish to prevent Liverpool returning to the Champions League after a five year absence.
Whilst Reds fans are dreaming of the Premier League title, a return to Europe’s elite competition should rightly be seen as a fantastic achievement by Brendan Rodgers and his players.
It will also give Rodgers the chance to go after those ‘next level’ signings he has been talking about, after a frustrating couple of transfer windows that have seen the Reds miss out on the likes of Willian, Diego Costa, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Salah and Yevhen Konoplyanka.
But after a fantastic season, Liverpool fans have every right to go into the next transfer window full of optimism.
Here we take a look at players we think could be on Brendan Rodgers summer wishlist.
