Chelsea fans could hardly have wished for a better opening three months of the 2014/15 season.
Jose Mourinho’s side sit comfortably clear at the top of the Premier League table, having emerged from fixtures at the Etihad Stadium, Old Trafford and Anfield unscathed.
In fact, it is not a question as to whether the Blues will end te season as Premier League champions, but as to whether they can emulate the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ of 2003/04 by going the whole season unbeaten.
With arguably their three toughest away fixtures out of the way (given their record against Arsenal under Mourinho down the years), it certainly does not look out of the question for Mourinho’s men.
His summer signings have hit the ground running – Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas in particular – and they have strength in depth in every position across the pitch.
And the worrying thing for supporters of Premier League rivals is that Chelsea have the spending power to add even more quality to their squad when the January transfer window opens.
As much as Mourinho will down play it, he will surely be aware he has a side capable of winning the Premier League comfortably this season, as well as challenging for the Champions League.
With that in mind, we have identified Mourinho’s transfer wishlist for January.
