Jose Mourinho has been getting under everybody’s skin this season, particularly with his claims that Chelsea should not be considered serious title challengers.
The constant mind games from the ‘special one’ have not really had much effect, other than for everyone to take everything he says from now on with a pinch of salt.
But Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa has made people realise perhaps Mourinho had a point after all.
The tame manner of the defeat and the lack of a top centre forward has got people now questioning the Blues title credentials, especially with Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal all recording impressive victories at the weekend.
Chelsea should still be considered well in the hunt for the title however.
Mourinho has the points on the board, experience of winning titles in Portugal, Spain, Italy and England, and not to mention plenty of world class players – despite what he tries to make everyone believe.
Next season will be the time for Chelsea to challenge truly on all fronts according to their boss, once he has managed to work some magic in the transfer market – and perhaphs finally sign a striker whose age he knows.
