Chelsea want to sign Gonzalo Higuain, as per the Telegraph, and that should excite fans as the Blues head into the second half of the season. Maurizio Sarri has lacked a reliable forward all season long, and in Higuain, he’d certainly find just that.
Whether a move happens remains to be seen, but if he does join, it’s fair to say that Chelsea’s attack will be looking very exciting indeed.
Change is afoot at Stamford Bridge, it seems, and with Higuain in the team, the Blues’ attack could be looking rather exciting…
Any good attack starts with the midfield, and Chelsea have some remarkable midfielders to choose from. The best of the bunch this season has been Ruben Loftus-Cheek. He’s had to fight for his spot at Stamford Bridge, but whenever the Englishman has played, he’s looked simply tremendous. Offering a goal threat, brilliant dribbling, a high work-rate and lots of consistency, it’s hard to see anyone but Loftus-Cheek controlling this midfield going forward.
Likewise, it’s hard to see anyone but Eden Hazard controlling the left-hand side of the attack. If Chelsea are able to hold on to him, he’s, simply put, the best man for the job. He’s the poster boy of the club, and everything good that happens at Stamford Bridge often goes through him.
On the right-hand side, Chelsea fans would love to see Callum Hudson-Odoi get a chance. He’s looked really good over the last few weeks, and he appears to finally be getting a chance at Stamford Bridge. Whether he remains at the club is still to be determined, but the Blues should be doing all they can to make sure that happens. He’s the best young player they’ve had for a long while.
Leading the line, Gonzalo Higuain would obviously be the man. Maurizio Sarri loves him, and it’s easy to see why. The Argentine has scored wherever he’s gone for years now, and he’s a reliable forward – and that’s what Chelsea lack. He’s a short-term solution, sure, but for the rest of the season, it’s hard to identify anyone better.
