The Bundesliga’s bottom side, Borussia Monchengladbach, have not had a lot to cheer about this season. They have only 10 points, no home victories before the winter break and 5 points off of any chance of survival. VFb Stuttgart, the team second bottom, even beat them 7-0!
What Monchengladbach have had to cheer about is a 4-0 away at local rivals Cologne and the play of 21-year old winger, Marco Reus, who has been the brightest spark on a really bad team.
Reus might be end up being the financial payoff when they go down at the end of the season too as Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in bringing him to Old Trafford, according to the press.
Yes, Fergie has said that he will not be making any signings in January, making it clear that there would ‘definitely not’ be any arrivals. However, Sir Alex does not want to bring Reus in yet anyway.
This is because, right now, Monchengladbach have placed a huge £6m price on the German u-21 international’s head. Therefore, Fergie is quite willing to let them get relegated and get him at a cut-down price in the summer.
This is especially true considering he would be a bit-part player for the rest of this year anyway!
