Sky Sports pundit: This is why Chelsea simply cannot afford to lose this player in the summer

For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, losing Eden Hazard this summer would be a disaster…

His influence within the Chelsea first team is unrivalled, and Antonio Conte would have a huge job on his hands to replace the talented Belgian.

Indeed, this is a sentiment that Sky Sports pundit Ray Wilkins agrees with – with the ex-Chelsea player recently speaking to Sky Sports News HQ (via Sky Sports) about how disastrous a Hazard sale would be.

He said: “I couldn’t give a monkey’s what they [Real Madrid] offer. Chelsea wish to be the best club on the planet and they’re heading in the right direction”.

Elaborating, Wilkins continued: “They’ll never get there if they sell Eden Hazard, who has been absolutely brilliant.”

Wilkins’ comments are of course coming off the back of reports from MARCA hinting that Chelsea could look to do a deal with Real Madrid over Hazard.

Indeed, it is hard to disagree with Wilkins’ sentiment. Hazard has been Chelsea’s most influential player since he joined the club, and if the Blues win the Premier League title this season, they will have the Belgian to thank.

Hazard’s only signed a new Chelsea deal a couple of years ago, and the Sun are also reporting that he could sign a renewed deal later this year.
