The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern today are excited about the prospect of finally getting a new forward, but is he the right man?
Reports that have surfaced in the past few days indicate that West Ham’s move for Bayern Leverkusen striker, Javier Hernandez is almost complete.
Given Andy Carroll’s fitness issues since his arrival at the club, it only makes sense for them to look for a new goal getter and what a player they would be getting in return.
The only doubt our landlord has about this signing? The reported salary Hernandez would be on at the London Stadium.
If these rumours are to be believed, the former Manchester United striker will be on £140,000 a week at his new club which would make him the highest paid player at the club by some margin.
Whilst most West Ham fans are excited about the move, our landlord has thought of a different route Slaven Bilic could have taken to save a lot of money.
That route goes by the name of Carlos Bacca.
Aged 30, Bacca is one year Chicharito’s senior and has become a crucial player in the AC Milan set up over the past few years.
However, with Milan having a very busy transfer window which has seen them linked with Torino’s Andrea Belotti, Bacca could be tempted for a move away to get more first team football.
The Colombian is also less injury prone to the Leverkusen man, who had a few injuries last season.
Most of all, the wage gap. At AC Milan, Bacca is on around £60,ooo a week.
He will likely ask for a pay rise to make the move but that would still likely only go up to around £80,000.
He cost Milan £21 million two years ago and with the previously mentioned busy transfer window, Milan could let him go for around the same price that Leverkusen are willing to let Hernandez go for.
What do you think Hammers’ fans? Would you rather have Hernandez or Bacca? Let us know down below.
