Slovakian international Jan Novak has arrived at Birmingham City for a trial. The 23-year-old striker currently plays for MFK Kosice but his club have allowed him to train with the Blues and a deal is possible for the player valued at around £2million.
Novak is a prolific scorer with his club, he has 39 goals in 90 appearances and was strongly linked with a move to Fulham over the summer but their interest seems to have waned. He demonstrated his quality in a Europa League qualifying play-off earlier this season as he scored in both legs of the tie against AS Roma. He is likely to go to the World Cup and City will be keen to secure a deal before then.
Birmingham have struggled for goals this season with only 15 goals in as many league games. Their first-choice strike duo of Cameron Jerome and Christian Benitez work hard but do not score enough goals and Birmingham have become reliant on midfielders Bowyer and Seb Larsson for goals. Alex McLeish is known to be keen on a new striker and the Slovakian Novak will be signed if he impresses during his trial.
