Arsenal will need to ensure consistency from here on in if they are to stand any chance of securing a top four spot in the current campaign, as they were majorly disappointing against Liverpool.
The Gunners have certainly impressed at times under Unai Emery in the current campaign, but it’s vital that the Spaniard now looks at bringing in reinforcements this month.
Indeed, it appears as if one of the club’s first-team players may be coming towards the end of his career at the Emirates, as Mesut Ozil is thought to be in limbo over his future. But, the most shocking thing is the fact that Arsenal would be open to offers for the German, so it looks as if they’re already thinking about trading him in for cash.
But, instead of going out and buying a possible replacement, perhaps the Gunners should turn to players that are already thriving in their youth system.
With that in mind, Emery already has these TWO ideal Arsenal replacements if Ozil leaves…
EMILE SMITH ROWE
Emile Smith Rowe established himself as a hot topic during pre-season after scoring a stunning goal against Atletico Madrid, and he has been able to carry his form into the current campaign, scoring three goals in six appearances.
The 18-year-old operates in a very similar role to Mesut Ozil, floating around and picking out passes in the final third, but the one big difference is that Smith Rowe has ensured consistency.
Indeed, the youngster has already shown that he can handle the pressure of Europa League football and impressed in the Carabao Cup, so he looks more than ready to fill the void that could potentially be left by Ozil.
Eddie Nketiah has managed to work his way onto the substitutes’ bench in the Premier League this season on a regular basis, and has featured once in the top-flight. Also, he has managed to appear three other times in the first-team ranks this season, once in the Carabao Cup and twice in the Europa League.
He has been absolutely prolific in the Under-23 squad, scoring six goals in seven appearances.
The youngster is able to operate in a wide position, like Ozil, or at the pinnacle of the attack. But, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette currently ahead of him in the pecking order, he may be able to step in and take Ozil’s place over on the left-hand side.
