‘So excited’, ‘Get in!’ – Liverpool fans react to significant player news

Liverpool supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side cruise past West Ham 4-1 on Saturday evening, a result which moved the Merseyside giants up to fifth place in the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Hammers off the back of beating Huddersfield Town and Maribor, and they comfortably made it three victories in the space of seven days with an emphatic display at the London Stadium. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Joel Matip in the first half set them on their way to all three points, and although Manuel Lanzini got one back for the hosts ten minutes after the break, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made it 3-1 almost immediately before Salah scored his second and Liverpool’s fourth with quarter of an hour to go.

Thus, another breathtakingly good attacking display was to the delight of our resident Liverpudlians in the Tavern, although they now have to wait a fortnight to see if their team can continue their decent run of form due to the international break.

Nonetheless, there is plenty to keep those Reds fans lining up at the bar occupied over the coming days, not least the significant and perhaps encouraging news that midfielder Adam Lallana is set to step up his comeback from injury with a behind-closed-doors friendly match next week.

The England international hasn’t featured for Liverpool at all this season after injuring his thigh during pre-season, this all after a fine season last time out in which he scored eight goals and laid on seven assists to help Klopp’s men return to the Champions League.

Yet the 29-year-old is closing in on a return to action and will reportedly play a part in a friendly at Melwood next week, which is news that has stimulated quite a response from delighted Liverpool supporters on Twitter…
