‘So friggin good’, ‘Ran the show’ – Tottenham fans surprisingly praise Real Madrid hero on Twitter

Though Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty stopped it from being a perfect night, the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are seriously proud of their team following last night’s performance against Real Madrid. Facing a team that have won two Champions Leagues in a row in their own backyard and coming away with a point sure is something to shout about.

Indeed, Spurs looked at home when mixing it with the best in Europe and, while an injury prevented Gareth Bale from playing against his former charges, there was a reunion on the pitch last night. Indeed, former Tottenham star Luka Modric played in central midfield for Los Blancos, reminding our north London locals of his pure quality.

The Croatian left London for the Spanish capital back in 2012 and has since won THREE UCL titles, as well as two La Liga crowns, forming perhaps the best midfield partnership in the world with Toni Kroos. Though he couldn’t unlock Tottenham’s defence last night, few would doubt the 32-year-old’s ability.

With Modric having big ties to Tottenham, here’s a look at how their fans reacted on Twitter to his performance against them in the Champions League last night.
