The Daily Mail are reporting that Dynamo Kiev will launch a £10 million offer in aim to land the Tottenham pair, Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar.
Whilst the absence of Corluka would not go a miss at Tottenham, could Tottenham afford to get rid of Kranjcar?
Quite frankly, yes. The 27 Croatian has only started 10 games this season, including the 5-1 home defeat at the hands of Manchester City, as well as the 3-0 home loss to City’s rivals Manchester United. Whilst his pace is a quality which has yet to be seen, he can be positioned on the left or the right side of midfield, which is one main advantage of Kranjcar. Not only this but Kranjcar has the potential to be a clinical finisher which has been demonstrated in such performances including his goal when Tottenham defeated Newcastle 5-0 in February.
So whilst there is no doubt that Kranjcar has the potential to be a superb player who would fulfill his ability if he was to sign for Dyanmo Kiev, it is unlikely that he will be able to reach his maximum game at Spurs, with players such as Van Der Vaart, Lennon and Pienaar being favoured more.
Well it is evident to any Spurs fan that Corluka would not be missed. With his slow pace and poor attitude, a challenge for Champions League would be much harder with Vedran in the team. Not only this but despite the 26 year old being loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen for the second half of the season, his position in the team was challenged in the earlier part of the season by the 22 year old Kyle Walker taking his place.
Overall, with Spurs looking to strengthen their squad over the summer in order to challenge for a Champions League spot this season, they should aim to get rid of Corluka and Kranjcar and say goodbye to these Croatians for good – but will Modric be joining them too on Tottenham’s departure list by the end of the window?
