Jose Mourinho has a lot of work to do at Man Utd. Despite his proven experience and natural quality, the Portuguese is facing perhaps the greatest challenge of his career at Old Trafford. The Red Devils had a mixed campaign last season, and they've begun this term in poor form. With 2 losses already, they're a long way off from challenging at the top of the table.

There is still time to turn things around, but with the transfer window now closed, Mourinho is going to have to make do with what he's already got at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately, that means that he's got little choice with regards to the defenders that he can pick. Given their poor form, that's not good news. However, one area in which he can make changes is in the attack.

He's tried making changes and big calls defensively, but so far, nothing has worked. To a point, then, he's out of options in defence, but going forward, there is room for plenty of variety.

Between the likes of Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, and the lesser-used players like Juan Mata and Anthony Martial, Man Utd's offensive options are up there with the best in Europe. As they say, the best form of defence is attack, and for Jose Mourinho, this may be the only option. If he can't defend against Europe's best, he can certainly compete with them going forward. As such, perhaps it's time for Mourinho to bulk out the attack and reduce the emphasis on the defence.

Granted, this would go against everything that he has preferred for much of his career, but alas, he has little choice at this point. There is only so much he can do with the likes of Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly - with none of his defenders performing at present.

It's worked for the likes of Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea this season, so why can't it work for Man Utd? It could be what he needs to turn Man Utd into the unstoppable outfit that they should be.
