Arsenal are set to miss out on Belgian playmaker and long term target Eden Hazard. It has been reported that the 20-year-old whizz-kid seems to be heading to the Bernabeu this Summer with a £30 million offer being accepted.
Eden Hazard has been a long term admirer of Wenger’s and this will come as a devastating blow to Wenger, as he would have been the perfect player to fill the role left by Cesc Fabregas.
Hazard has stated his admiration for Wenger and his desire to play for Arsenal in the past, but Arsenal’s inability to spend big for a player during the summer transfer period looks to have cost them dearly. Madrid do have the finances to pay Hazard’s transfer fee and with Madrid trying to claim back dominance in La Liga after being a shadow to Barcelona in past seasons, Hazard will definitely play a helping hand in achieve that.
Real’s Director of football Zinedine Zidane is believed to have a significant influence in securing the deal. The Frenchman according to Gazzetta dello Sport is said to have told Hazard his future lies in Spain.
Signing Hazard would have lifted a huge weight off Wenger’s shoulders. Not only would it have been a huge confidence boost for the team it would have given fans real optimism. However once again Arsenal fans are left deepy upset and left to ponder what could have been. This is not the first time Arsenal have missed out on a player, and certainly won’t be the last.
