‘Sounds like a goodbye’ – Newcastle United fans emotional over club’s Twitter post

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from Kenedy on the Newcastle United website as his highly successful loan spell came to an end. With the Chelsea man in the side, Rafa Benitez’s Geordies climbed away from the bottom three to a 10th placed finish, something the fans could only dream of at Christmas.

Kenedy made 13 appearances for the Magpies and scored two goals, which both came in the club’s 3-0 demolition of Southampton at St. James’ Park.  The 22-year-old Brazilian is now back with his parent club Chelsea as the Blues prepare for tomorrow’s FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley, although the young livewire is extremely unlikely to feature and would count himself lucky to get a place on the bench.

Kenedy went out of his way to describe the Newcastle fans as “amazing” and claimed that he “didn’t expect anything like it.” The young Brazilian would be a superb addition to the Newcastle squad on a permanent basis, and he wouldn’t need to take any time to endear himself to the fans. The Geordies propping our bar up will all have the permanent signing of Kenedy right up on their list of priorities, alongside getting Rafa Benitez tied down to a new deal.
