Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting a number of changes this summer as they prepare to forget about their abysmal campaign this season.
The Saints fought tooth-and-nail and it was not until the penultimate match of the Premier League calendar that they confirmed their status in the top-flight for next year.
Mark Hughes had replaced Mauricio Pellegrino in March and was appointed to try and help them achieve safety and now he is edging to a new deal with the club.
According to reports by Sky Sports, the manager is close to agreeing to a three-year contract with the St. Mary’s Stadium outfit after completed what seemed like an unlikely task.
The Southampton fans in the Tavern will be delighted with the news that the club are close to agreeing to terms with Hughes about extending his stay with them.
The former Manchester City and Stoke City manager helped the Saints gain 11 points from their remaining ten games and got the squad back playing to a good standard, although he knows there will be work to be done.
Hughes will want to address certain areas of his team this summer and will want to make a number of changes to ensure they are not in the same position next year as they found themselves this time around.
