According to MailOnline, south coast club Southampton are set to seal a £12 million deal for Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long.
The striker only joined Hull City from West Bromwich Albion in January when the Tigers paid £7 million to secure his services.
But according to the publication, the Saints are in advanced talks to sign the striker and he could be available for Saturday’s opener against Liverpool.
Ronald Koeman has seen his side dismantled in front of his own eyes since he took over at St. Mary’s this summer having lost Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to name just two.
But the Dutch legend has finally managed to get a grip on the south coast exodus having secured the signing of Celtic’s Fraser Forster this week as well as landing Dusan Tadic, Graziano Pelle, Saphir Taider and Ryan Bertrand.
And it now seems that Koeman has managed to bring in some competition for strikerPelle who will be hoping to prolong his impressive goal scoring record.
