Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with the work that Mark Hughes has already managed to achieve in the transfer market so far.
The Saints boss has already added Stuart Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi to his squad this summer, whilst Jannik Vestergaard and Angus Gunn are thought to be nearing deals to join them on the south coast.
Hughes is desperate to add some quality to the Southampton side ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, following last year’s bitterly disappointing efforts that saw the side just survive by the skin of their teeth.
The manager is thought to be in the market to add some attacking threat to his side and according to a report in The Sportsman, he could be about to bring a shock addition to the St. Mary’s Stadium.
It is being claimed that Hughes is working hard behind the scenes to bring Pedro Paulo Lubamba to the club from Real Madrid. The 15-year-old, who will not be allowed to sign a professional deal until he turns 16, has been training with the Saints Under-18 side and has impressed the coaching staff.
The report does state that a deal is far in the distance, however, the Saints are thought to be in the driving seat for the Angolan born teenager, with the likes of Porto and Benfica all rumoured to be interested.
Lubamba is thought to love the chance of playing in England and, although it is widely expected that he would sit in the developmental side and continue his progression, he could turn out to be an excellent addition in the near future.
