Southampton confirm Jannik Vestergaard as their fourth signing

Southampton have been enjoying the past few weeks and have notched their transfer activity up another gear.

Mark Hughes has been determined to strengthen his side as much as possible ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, following last season’s abysmal showing.

The Saints managed to just survive the drop and the new manager will be hoping that his side are not in the same position once again.

Hughes has gone a long way to making sure that that does not happen again, with the additions of Angus Gunn, Stuart Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi, however, he has decided it best to add another name to his squad at the St. Mary’s Stadium this summer.

The club have announced via their official website that Jannik Vestergaard has become their fourth major signing, penning a four-year deal with the Saints.

The Denmark international, who was with his country for the World Cup, is a towering centre-back and already has significant experience from the Bundesliga from his time with Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Verdict:

Southampton have been working hard this summer and their signings have made them instantly stronger for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The Danish defender is regarded as the Saints idea to replace Virgil van Djik and they will be hopeful that he can take the club further up the table.
