Southampton consider making bid for Danny Ings

Southampton have been busy making their squad stronger this summer as they look to improve on last season’s appalling efforts.

Mark Hughes’ side were almost relegated from the Premier League, however, the Welshman managed to turn things around and guided them to safety with just one game left to play.

The Saints boss has been working hard in the transfer window to ensure the club do not find themselves in the same position next May and has already made a number of key additions.

The likes of Angus Gunn, Jannik Vestergaard, Stuart Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi have all joined the St Mary’s Stadium outfit, however, reports are suggesting Hughes has his eyes on a Premier League striker.

According to The Sun, Southampton will make an offer for Liverpool’s Danny Ings, although it will be a lot lower than what the Reds want for the player.

The Anfield side value the England international at £20million, however, the Saints are willing to pay around half of that amount, with additional extras being paid if the player makes a certain number of appearances for them.

The Verdict:

Ings would be a quality addition to the attacking department, should he be able to remain fit, hence why Hughes is only prepared to pay £10m up front for the 25-year-old.

Southampton looking to pay only half for the striker will not make a deal easy between the two sides, especially considering the south coast outfit have charged Jurgen Klopp’s side huge amounts to take their stars from them in the past.
