Southampton consider offering England goalkeeper new deal

ForsterThe Southampton fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing the possibility of one of their players getting a new deal with the club.

The Southern Daily Echo is reporting that the Premier League side are close to offering goalkeeper Fraser Forster a new deal with the club.

Forster has been in fine form for Southampton since his return from injury and is attracting major interest from club’s both in England and abroad.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is keen to get the England goalkeeper tied up to a longer term deal in an effort to dissuade other sides from making a bid for Forster this summer.

Forster is set to be on the plane to France for England’s EURO 2016 campaign in the summer as understudy to number one Joe Hart following an injury sustained by Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland in last months friendly win against Germany.

Our landlord in The Tavern thinks it’s a no brainer for Southampton to offer Forster a new deal and if he agrees it will be a coup for the club.

As for the Southampton fans, they feel that Forster would be better off remaining at their club rather than sitting on the bench at one of the so called big four clubs and waste the natural talent he clearly has.

Will Forster be lured away this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
