Southampton considering swoop for Anthony Limbombe

Southampton are looking to continue their transfer business this summer and have identified an attacker as a player they want to bring to the St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Saints are looking to improve on last season’s poor campaign which saw them remain in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth and Mark Hughes is determined to add quality to his squad.

The club have already added the likes of Angus Gunn, Jannik Vestergaard, Stuart Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi to their ranks, however, the Welshman is keen on adding some attacking threat to the side, as they struggled to find the back of the net a little too often.

According to reports by The Sun, Southampton are considering a swoop for Club Brugge attacker Anthony Limbombe after a move to Huddersfield Town collapsed.

It is believed Newcastle United are also interested in the Belgium international, however, the Saints may be prepared to the £11million needed to bring him from the Jupiler League.

The Verdict:

Southampton have been busy adding to their ranks this summer and Limbombe would be another smart addition for Hughes to make.

The 24-year-old is a versatile attacker that can play both as a frontman but also as a winger, which could fill a need at both positions this summer.

In today’s transfer market, £11m would not be a too big a fee to part with for someone of Limbombe’s talent and they could reap the rewards from a deal as he could be the man to get them scoring once again.
