Cedric Soares is not having the greatest of times at Inter Milan following his loan move from Southampton back in January.

The 27-year-old has been unable to oust Danilo D'Ambrosio out of the side, and a return to St. Mary's at the end of the season rather than a permanent transfer to the San Siro now looks to be on the cards.

The Breakdown

According to Tuttosport (via Daily Echo), Inter Milan will launch a summer assault on Manchester United for Matteo Darmian instead of keeping Cedric at the club in a development some Southampton supporters will not welcome.

Cedric's form had not been the greatest prior to his move to Italy while Yan Valery, who scored a fantastic goal over the weekend in the Saints' 3-2 defeat away at Manchester United, has been performing well in the right-wing back position.

Still, the Portugal international remains a capable full-back as he showed during the earlier stages of his Southampton career.

On the right flank, he provides a lot of energy as he bombs up and down it to win tackles and put balls into the box.

Ultimately, if Southampton secure Premier League safety, Cedric is probably worth keeping around as Ralph Hasenhuttl looks to improve what is already quite a decent squad even amid the threat of relegation.
