If Southampton were able to improve their defence, things would likely be a lot better for the Saints in terms of the Premier League.
Going based on this season’s performances, Enock Kwateng could be the exact type of player Ralph Hasenhuttl could use to help, however, it appears they could be about to find it difficult to bring him to the Premier League.
What’s the News?
According to a report by 20mintues in France, the Nantes defender is set to leave his current club once his contract expires in the summer.
However, the problem that Southampton, and Watford, are likely to encounter is that the 21-year-old would prefer a move to Germany and play in the Bundesliga.
It is claimed Amine Harit, who is a close friend of Kwateng, could tempt him to join him in the country as he continues to do well with Schalke 04.
Kwateng could be an excellent option for Southampton to use at right-back in the summer as the club will need to improve at the back.
Although Yann Valery has been excelling at the moment in the first-team, there could be a suggestion that the 21-year-old would be an upgrade on the impressive youngster already at the club.
Kwateng is a powerful player and would also be able to offer Hasenhuttl some versatility in terms of defensive options, as he can operate anywhere across the back.
But it would appear that Southampton will have some work to do in order to try and bring him to the club, with the current Nantes enforcer appearing to favour a move to the Bundesliga.
Should they fail to do convince him, they could always look to reintegrate Cedric Soares back into the side if he returns from his loan spell at Inter Milan.
Southampton fans, do you think Hasenhuttl and the club can do enough to convince Kwateng to join them in the Premier League? Join in the discussion by commenting below.
