Southampton eyeing appointment of well-travelled boss

SouthamptonSouthampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been sweating over Ronald Koeman’s possible exit for the last week or so, with recent circulating news confirming that Koeman will be announced manager of Everton Football Club later this week.

That means that, two years after losing Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton will need to find a new manager again.

But, The Sun reports today that a search to fill the new managerial position is underway with Vitor Pereira emerging as the South Coast clubs key target.

Pereira has overseen managerial stints in Greece, the Middle East and Portugal and is currently the manager of Fenerbahce following his appointment last summer.

The Portuguese’s most notable reign came at Porto in 2011-13 where he recorded a 69% win record and won the Primera Liga twice following Jose Mourinho’s exit after his Champions League triumph.

Southampton fans, will Pereira be welcomed if appointed the new manager? Let us know in the comments below!
