It’s been a decent season for Southampton under manager Claude Puel and the Saints fans here in the Tavern feel real progress has been made over the course of the campaign.
Whilst European football looks unlikely this time out, Southampton have been reasonably solid this season and have really found some form in recent weeks, with the likes of Nathan Redmond and Manolo Gabbiadini really shining in the forward line.
But one man that has been linked with a move away from the club all season is captain Virgil van Dijk, who has been superb this season.
And with the threat of losing their captain growing every week, they’re surely going to need a replacement if he does leave.
The Sun has reported that Claude Puel is lining up a move for Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien, should van Dijk leave the club this summer.
The commanding 24-year-old centre-back has impressed in Ligue 1 this season and it’s thought Puel is keen to return to his homeland to sign the player over the summer.
Saints fans- a worthy replacement? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
