Southampton: Fans annoyed by club tweet

Southampton find themselves in dire straits at the moment, languishing in the bottom three after 11 games, with this weekend’s visit of fellow strugglers Everton is already being viewed a must-win game for the south coast club.
However, there is room for optimism for Saints fans heading into this weekend’s match-up at St Mary’s. After the 9-0 thrashing against Leicester a fortnight ago, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side put in a much better display against Manchester City last weekend, narrowly losing 2-1 to the Citizens after Kyle Walker’s late winner.
If Southampton carry that sort of performance and desire into this Saturday’s fixture against the Toffees, they’ll have a great chance of registering their first home win of the campaign.
During the game against City, Saints faced an onslaught of pressure throughout, with Pep Guardiola’s hosts registering a total of 26 shots on Southampton’s goal. Saints’ backs were against the wall from the off, but they defended well to keep their opponents out, though the minimum you’d expect from your side is to defend.
Saints fans have been angered by the club compiling all of the blocks and clearances from last weekend’s game at the Etihad – a match that they still lost, albeit by a close margin, after uploading it to Twitter.
Many have been quick to point out that commitment is the bare minimum requirement when it comes to football, and that performances on the pitch are still nowhere near as good as they should be:
Until we get a win you shouldn’t be posting this rubbish

Really odd thing to tweet. Look at how we were dominated to the point that we are throwing bodies in front of shots. 100% commitment is not something that should be pointed out. It should be a given. These players and the club are nowhere near off the hook.

Commitment is what’s expected as the bare minimum. We need points, commitment should never be in question

Well done for doing your job lads.

Check the goals. Zero work rate or marking.

Commitment levels should always be 100%?

Should Ralph Hasenhuttl be under pressure at Southampton?
Yes

No
