Southampton were held to a 0-0 draw by Newcastle United last Saturday in yet another disappointing result for the club at St. Mary’s.
The Saints have not won a single game at home this season, and their latest failings caused quite the reaction from supporters.
Southampton were booed off at full time following the dull encounter, and manager Mark Hughes has since come out to admit the St. Mary’s faithful had every right to vent their frustration on the day.
“Clearly people are going to be more frustrated but I don’t think it was directed at the players for their efforts because we were the team trying to win the game,” the Southampton boss told the Southern Daily Echo.
“It is going to be there until we get rid of it and the only people who can get it rid of it are the group that we have.”
Today was Hughes’ 55th birthday and you can have a look at the messages Southampton supporters sent their manager below…
Happy birthday now please leave the club. Thanks
