‘I would take Ali Dia right now’ – Southampton fans react to recent transfer speculation

Southampton supporters in the Transfer Tavern were left significantly underwhelmed by their side once again on Saturday after seeing the Saints go down 1-0 at home to Burnley in the Premier League, thus suffering their fourth loss of the campaign.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s men went into their clash with the Clarets unbeaten in three league matches, and would have been hoping for home comforts against the high-flying Lancashire-based outfit. Yet they put in another lacklustre display to lose 1-0 to Sean Dyche’s side, with Sam Vokes’ header nine minutes from time enough to seal a deserved win for Burnley, who in turn moved level on points with sixth place Arsenal and fifth place Liverpool in the Premier League table.

For Southampton though, they slipped to 13th in the division, and many of our resident Saints fans are beginning to question Pellegrino’s credentials after failing to improve their attacking prowess, having scored just nine goals in their 11 league games.

Yet the 46-year-old appears to be trying to sort that out as recent reports suggest that he is interested in bringing Monaco forward Stevan Jovetic to St Mary’s.

The 28-year-old moved to the Ligue 1 champions during the summer but has failed to nail down a regular place in Leonardo Jardim’s side, having scored just one goal in six games in all competitions for the club.

And Southampton are reportedly seeking to exploit his struggles by making a move in January, which is news that has stimulated quite a response from Saints supporters on Twitter…
