Southampton have bid for Birmingham City’s Che Adams rebuffed - Latest News

Ralph Hasenhuttl is yet to make a signing as Southampton manager this January.

The Saints boss has seen the likes of Cedric Soares, Steven Davis, Manolo Gabbiadini and Wesley Hoedt leave the club this month as he looks to ring the changes.

There is no doubt that Southampton have improved under his guidance in the Premier League, however, he will need to strengthen to his squad to give them a chance of staying away from the relegation zone.

And, it appears a move for a proven goalscorer has been on the cards this winter, although Hasenhuttl has been dealt a blow in his pursuit for one.

According to a report by The Mirror, Southampton have had an £8million bid for Che Adams turned down by Birmingham City.

The 22-year-old has been starring for The Blues this season as he has netted 14 goals in his 28 Championship appearances this season.

Garry Monk is keen to keep him at Birmingham as they look to challenge for promotion, however, a fresh offer may be on the cards.

The Verdict:

Adams has been impressing with his performances for Birmingham in the Championship this season and it is no real surprise that a Premier League outfit has made an offer for him.

Southampton could benefit from a young talented goalscorer in the second half of the current campaign, although there may be doubts about how well he can take to life in the top-flight.

However, Hasenhuttl appears to prefer youth in his sides and the 22-year-old seems destined to play football at the top-level and Southampton will do well to land him in January.
