Southampton identify promising summer transfer target despite relegation fears – report

Southampton have had a disastrous time this season and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be fearing the worst as the season enters a defining stage.

The Saints are currently one of the favourites to be relegated to the Championship next season having won just five matches in the Premier League. They decided to part ways with Mauricio Pellegrino and install Mark Hughes in March, but a handful of the locals in the bar believe that decision was made far too late.

Should they somehow escape the drop, Southampton will be looking to bring in a number of targets to help rebuild their squad and ensure they will not be in the same position again next season, and they have already identified a winger to help.

According to HLN, the south-coast outfit are interested in signing Anthony Limbombe from Club Brugge. The Belgium international is enjoying his second year with the Jupiler League side and has helped the club reach the top of the league.

Interest continues to mount for the 23-year-old, with Huddersfield Town and Olympique de Lyonnais also reported to be interested in the player who is believed to be valued by his club at around 15 million euros.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Southampton fans in the Tavern will be impressed with Limbombe’s performances for Club Brugge and believe he will prove to be a useful acquisition should they remain in the Premier League, however, that task takes priority for the resident Saints supporters lining up our bar.
