Southampton could be in the hunt for a new striker in the summer transfer window and it appears one of Europe’s potentially hottest prospects has emerged on their radar.
According to a report by Calciomercato, Ajax’s Kasper Dolberg is believed to have caught the attention of those at The Saints.
The 21-year-old is thriving in the Eredivisie this season, having hit nine goals in his 16 games so far, making him a player to be considered one of the continents most exciting prospects.
The Denmark international is already believed to have attracted plenty of interest in the past, however, the report only appears to mention Southampton and Premier League rivals West Ham United.
Dolberg would be considered an excellent addition to Southampton in the summer, as the club currently lack firepower in their squad.
With Manolo Gabbiadini having departed the St. Mary’s Stadium in the winter and with doubts over Charlie Austin’s future, Ralph Hasenhuttl could have the need to bring a striker to the club as a priority in the summer.
However, with the club currently sitting in a precarious position in the Premier League, The Saints would likely need to remain in the division to have any chance of landing the exciting Dane.
