Southampton failed to secure their first win of the Premier League campaign yesterday as they were edged out by Everton at Goodison Park.
The Saints will be desperate to improve on last season’s performances as they almost suffered relegation to the Championship. Although, it looks as if they’re desperate for improvements, as according to The Sun on Sunday (August 19th, page 60) (via HITC), Southampton are interested in Nicolas Pepe.
It’s understood that Southampton are interested in French side Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.
Interestingly, the Frenchman scored and assisted in his current club’s opening day win against Rennes.
Importantly, it’s thought that the French club are willing to sell for the right price.
But, the Saints do face competition from fellow Premier League side Burnley, who will reportedly launch a £15 million bid for the winger.
Indeed, the winger has already shown that he can produce for his teammates and score goals this season, so it comes as no surprise that the Saints are taking an interest.
Although, they could miss out on the 23-year-old as Burnley seem desperate to secure his services and have even had scouts pushing for the Frenchman.
Of course, Southampton could do with some more quality in their side and they have struggled in attacking areas previously, so bringing in a wide man would be a great idea to help increase their productivity in the final third.
