There can be no denying that Ralph Hasenhuttl has been a breath of fresh air at Southampton since being in charge. Obviously, the club still sit in a rather precarious position in the Premier League, however, they look as though they have an excellent chance of escaping the drop once again.
Hasnehuttl has put his faith in a number of youngsters within his squad, with the likes of Yan Valery excelling, and it appears it may have played a role in the Austrian’s latest rumoured transfer target.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Foot Mercato, Southampton are understood to be keeping an eye on Stade Rennais’ reserve striker Timothe Nkada.
The 19-year-old’s current contract expires in the summer and the Saints are understood to have been put on alert regarding his availability.
The news of Southampton being interested in Nkada will come as an interesting development, however, it should not be one that comes as a surprise.
Valery had previously come through the system at Rennes before teaming up with the academy of the Premier League side in 2015 and the young forward could quite easily follow in his footsteps.
The teenager has been in fine form for the French outfit’s reserve team this season, having netted 11 goals in his 16 games, with seven coming since the turn of the year.
Although it is unlikely that he would have a chance in the first-team straight away, Nkada could be the perfect player for the club to bring through the developmental ranks and one that Hasenhuttl could look to use in the future.
However, as the report states, Southampton are yet to start any talks regarding a possible switch, however, with how things are currently, it would not be a surprise if they did look to come in for him in due course.
Southampton fans, should the club look to bring Nkada to the St. Mary’s Stadium? What do you make of a possible deal? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
