At last we appear to have a bit of good news for Southampton fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern, with Metro reporting new Saints boss Ronald Koeman has told Morgan Schneiderlin he can forget all about a move to Tottenham this summer.
The Saints have had a busy transfer window for all the wrong reasons, seeing Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren, and Calum Chambers all leave the club for close to £100million.
France midfielder Schneiderlin was the latest big name to say he wanted out of St Mary’s, with former manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly keen to bring him to White Hart Lane.
But Koeman has claimed no more players will be leaving the south coast club this summer.
‘The situation is difficult, because the player makes it difficult and I spoke to Morgan with our chairman and the situation has not changed,’ said Koeman.
‘We don’t sell Schneiderlin and he has to accept that.
‘He’s not in the squad tomorrow [for their pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen] because he said he’s not in a physical but even more not in a mental way prepared for tomorrow. On one side I can understand that.’
