The Saints are currently sitting in the top-half of the Premier League, and the Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted about the seamless transition that Puel has had after the departure of Ronald Koeman.
Never one to settle for second best though, it would it would appear as though the Southampton boss is keen on improving his side – with the prospect of signing a La Liga midfielder now becoming a possibility.
According to the Daily Star, Southampton are lining up a move for Valencia ace Dani Parejo.
They note that Southampton have tracked the midfielder for a long time, and now look set to challenge the likes of Inter Milan, Sevilla and Monaco for his signature.
Southampton have reportedly already made contact, and Puel looks ready to get a deal done for the midfield maestro.
This news has delighted the Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom were hoping to see the Saints sign a number of players in the new year.
Our landlord thinks that the deal could be a masterstroke, as Parejo has been seriously impressive for Valencia as of late.
Parejo has made 15 La Liga appearances this season, and has scored 3 times and assisted a further 5 times so far.
A versatile midfielder, Parejo is able to play as a deep-lying midfielder or as an attacking midfielder – signalling just how useful he could be for Puel this season – having played both roles in equal measure so far this season.
