Southampton keen to offload Fraser Forster

Southampton are still thought to be keen on offloading bodies this winter, however, one man could prove difficult to shift.

According to a report by The Southern Daily Echo, Fraser Forster is one of those that Ralph Hasnehuttl would not mind clearing from his wage bill.

However, The Saints are yet to receive a firm offer for the goalkeeper as the January transfer window comes towards its conclusion.

The 30-year-old has been out of favour for some time at The St. Mary’s Stadium, as he has not featured in the Premier League since Boxing Day 2017.

Hasenhuttl is thought to be keen to offload a number of his high-earners from the club this winter as he looks to make changes to the team he inherited from Mark Hughes.

The Verdict:

With Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn seemingly the shot-stoppers to be involved in Hasenhuttl’s plans, Forster’s best chances of getting first-team football clearly look to be away from Southampton.

However, with no firm offers on the table as of yet, a switch away from the south coast could be touch-and-go for the 30-year-old.

If Saints are not able to offload the experienced shot-stopper any time soon, it could leave them with a frantic few days of the January transfer window.
