The Daily Mirror is reporting that the club are considering making a move for Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula when the window opens.

Southampton are considering the player as a direct replacement for Victor Wanyama, should the player decide he doesn’t want to remain at St Marys amid speculation that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all ready to pounce after watching the 24-year-old.

Imbula only signed for Porto during the summer for a reported fee of €20 million, but with Koeman a big fan of the defensive midfielder a move to England could happen.

The 23-year-old has impressed for Porto in this season’s Champions League and his combatitive nature and defensive abilities are top class.

The Southanpton fans in The Transfer Tavern just want Wanyama to hurry up and make a decision as to where his future lies, but would welcome Imbula’s addition to their squad should he not prove to be to expensive.
