It’s been a decent season for Southampton in the Premier League and their fans here in the pub are relatively happy with the progress made under manager Claude Puel this year.
The Frenchman had big boots to fill after Ronald Koeman left for Everton last summer but he looks to have steadied the ship and his side will certainly be pushing for a top-half finish.
But one man that has been at the heart of all their good work this season is Virgil van Dijk, who continues to be linked with a move away from St Mary’s this summer, much to the dislike of our Saints-mad barman, who can’t see a future without the Dutchman!
And should their skipper depart over the summer months, someone will need to come in and fill the void left behind.
But one man that has been linked with a move to the South Coast is Leeds United favourite Pontus Jansson, who has been in fine form for the Whites this campaign.
According to the Sun, Puel has put the Swedish defender at the top of his shopping list as they await bids to come in for van Dijk.
Jansson will join Leeds on a £3.5million deal this summer but the Saints are reportedly offering three times that to buy him this summer, something that has left out Southampton fans in the bar feeling a little better ahead of a busy summer.
Saints fans- is Jansson good enough to fill the gap? Leave your thoughts below!
