Southampton fans have reacted to the news that they have sold out of tickets for their big game away at local rivals Portsmouth.
The Saints’ Twitter account announced that they had filled their allocation for the away, to which many Saints fans responded to.
Southampton will travel 16 miles to Fratton Park for the EFL Third Round – the first time the two will play each other in over seven years.
You have to date back to April 7, 2012 when the last two met. Indeed, Portsmouth managed to salvage a last-minute draw as David Norris bagged in the 94th minute to make it 2-2. Billy Sharp, now playing in the Premier League for Sheffield United, scored twice that day for Southampton.
Saints managed to reach this round after beating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage, thanks to a goal from Michael Obafemi after he was assisted by Nathan Redmond.
There was a mixed response from Southampton fans, with some venting their frustrations at not being able to get a ticket while others gloated about how it did not reach general sale.
