The Southampton fans at the bar in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate for some news regarding who will be taking over as manager after the sacking of Claude Puel. However, while there is no fresh news on that front as of yet, there are some rumblings over a new signing.
The Saints have an eye for young talent, having produced some of the finest talents in football over the years from their famed academy.
And, according to reports from The Irish Sun, they are considering a move to bring another youngster to the club in the shape of Shamrock Rovers winger Trevor Clarke.
The head of recruit at St. Mary’s, Ross Wilson, has supposedly been over to take a look at the 19-year-old and has begun internal talks over a move this summer.
The EFL Cup finalists completed a similar deal last season when they signed defender Kieran Freeman from Scottish outfit Dundee.
Clarke, an Irish U19 international, was a mainstay in the Shamrock side last season, finishing fourth in the Irish top flight.
Saints fans, we want to hear from you! Is it encouraging to see the club actively looking to recruit young talent? Or is there already enough in the academy as it stands? Let us know…
